About Me

Awkward. Goofy. Stubborn. Chatty. Genuine. Compassionate. Helpful. Silly. Clumsy.

This pretty much sums up me! I am a single mother of two amazing children. Both of which are in there teenage years. Both completely opposite to one another in every way.  Both drive me crazy at times. Both have me in awe most of the time.  It has been an incredible journey thus far, and we got a long way to go!

I am Shannon. I am in my 40-something years. That’s as close to my real age as you are going to get.  I am raising a special needs son, Cobi, who is now 19 years old, and a very talented daughter, Piper, who is 14 years old. Where has the time gone? Just a minute ago it seems they were my babies. Now, I cannot forget the most important member of our family, the king of the castle, our kitty cat Simon. Yes, he is very loved. The rule in our house is you have to love the cat often, he cannot go for too long without cuddles. That cat is definitely living the good life! I spent  many years as a dance instructor teaching children and adults of all ages and abilities. I have run my own business, was a party planner extraordinaire, an editor and producer of a children’s magazine in which my daughter created, and crafted my way thru numerous fundraisers.  I was 3rd runner up in the Mrs. Canada Pageantry 2002, back in the days where I honestly thought I was superwoman.

My life has been an adventure of many ups and downs, learning curves and umpteen million mistakes. I have fallen down, and gotten back up again. A few times I got up much slower than others, but nonetheless, I got back up.  I have conquered, and I have failed.  But I do believe I have succeeded  in raising two incredible human beings.

I put my heart and soul into everything I do. I believe there is no half way in anything.  If you are going to do something, give it your all, and do it whole heartedly.  My personal journey these last few years has been the most enlightening.  Self discovery, learning about who I was as opposed to who I am now, and what that means for my future.  We all gain some wisdom as we live each year by, and so my wish is to share all that I have learned with all of you to hopefully help and encourage you, especially those of you in the beginning stages of your journey raising your very special and unique child.   And maybe somewhere along the way, touch the lives of those who do not understand our way of living, so they may gain some insight into this very special world that we live in.
